Day Seven- Feb. 10th, 2004 Monterrico
The 5 a.m. wake-up was brutal...but lots of time to relax in the aftrenoon in my hammock! We took a canoe into the lagoon and watched the sun rise with an amazing assortment of birds (Pelicans, Cranes, Flamingoes, Herons etc). The volcano Fuego even errupted while we were there and you could see the plume of smoke. Our guide was extremely knowledgable, but it was nice to get back for coffee and breakfast by 8:30!
Later in the day we went to the preserve to see some endangered species, the place is very run down, but at least they are trying!!
On the way back to the hotel we saw some not-so-endangered species wandering the road...the damned cows almost ran us down!
